Rug Care Instructions
A fine rug can last generations with the right care. Below you’ll find simple, brand‑approved steps our team follows and recommends to clients every day. If you need more help with rug care or it requires a more intensive clean up, let us help you with our expert rug care services.
Routine Care
- Vacuum regularly with suction only. Avoid beater bars/powerhead attachments; they can fuzz fibers and pull ends. Vacuum fringes with a hand nozzle only.
- Rotate every 6–12 months to even out wear and sunlight exposure.
- Use a quality rug pad to prevent slipping, add cushion, and protect floors from spills seeping through.
- Mind the sun. Prolonged direct light can fade colors; rotate more often or use window treatments
Spills & Spots (All Fibers)
- Act fast. Blot – don’t rub. Use white paper towels or a clean cloth; work from the spill’s edge toward the center.
- Dry thoroughly. Blot dry, elevate with airflow (fan), and ensure the face and foundation are fully dry.
- Never soak or steam a fine rug; excess moisture can cause dye bleed, shrinkage, or mildew. In‑home “carpet” methods are not recommended for quality woven rugs.
